This three-day weekend was a blast. Suzie and I agreed it was one well-spent. We saw a movie at Shaw Lido, met up with dragonboaters at Tanjong Beach, watched a DVD of Metro Manila, and still managed to do our usual weekend chores like laundry and cleaning.
We capped off the weekend with dinner at Mata Thai, which is located inside Bishan’s main town area. The food is more value for money and the service is always pretty good. I didn’t like the minced pork in basil this time (felt like it was missing spice). The kai lan veggie was more creamy and lacked a bit flavour this time as well. The chicken in pandan leaf was so-so, but it tasted better during a previous visit.
The highlight was the Thai milk tea. Tastes exactly how I remember having it when in Bangkok last year.
Mata Thai is next to POSB in Bishan town (Bishan St. 11). I like it because it is above hawker standard fare, isn’t crowded, and feels “at home” or “home-cooked”. The Thai milk tea is always a treat. And I’ve read that the curry and tom yum is not too bad. π
