Has it really been a year?
We had a batch dinner to celebrate a year of friendship. More than half in our batch are active paddlers. I like the dynamic with my batchmates. We are upbeat and positive-thinking. I only worry how long that positive streak can last, lol. Because seriously maging realistic din tayo… every barkada must weather a storm every now and then. Our WhatsApp batch thread is informative about trainings and romantic musings.
After a year, like in college, even friends from the beginning find new friends later on. WTH. Sounds so “Dear diary, I met 3 friends today.”
But seriously, a major learning point when you’re in a dragon boat team is the social factor. So many things happening. You have your seniors, your team captains, your batchmates, your newbies… all with similar or varying interest. It is twice as challenging for introverts.
Dami ko na sinabi.
These are words I would describe how I feel about FDS and my batchmates from November 2014. “Batch 5” of that year.
Grateful… that we push each other to paddle.
Humbled… we are able to paddle with experienced seniors of FDS. Some who have been so kind to share their tips and advice.
Inspired… by other FDS members who pursue other sporting disciplines like triathlons, running, biking, swimming, nag-enumerate ba kamo.
Driven… to improve, syempre.
Happy… this has become more than a hobby. FDS, my batchmates, real people that animate life in Singapore.
