This remains my favourite holiday to date. Exploring a city for the first time. No itinerary at all. Just a checklist of things-to-do… that we could do at any time. No frills. Comfortable hotel, beautiful city, and between my boyfriend and I– a feeling of youthfulness.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Last week during Lunar New Year holiday, my boyfriend and I revisited the Singapore Botanic Gardens. We were last together there in 2012 at a time we were still job hunting. Since then, Singapore Botanic Gardens was given recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Botanic Gardens MRT became an interchange station with the addition of Downtown Line Phase 2 (now connecting the Circle Line and the Downtown Line).
The park remained just as gorgeous since we last visited. There were plenty of park visitors when we were there on Lunar New Year. The weather was also great… not too hot!
“The closure of our Orchard Club is a result of variable business strategies and decisions.”
That, ladies and gents, is the conclusion of California Fitness at Ngee Ann City (Orchard). It was a ‘shocking’ ten-day notice for gym patrons to find another CF club in short time. CF now only has three remaining clubs: Raffles, Bugis, and Novena.

The statement posted on Facebook and later mailed to members obviously solicited angry reactions from patrons. I already cancelled my auto-debit arrangement with CF in January after two of my dragon boat teammates had an incident with staff alleging them with “personal coaching”.
I was busy the past few weeks with re-developing the website of my dragon boat team. The good news is that the new FDS website is up and running. The bad news is that there’s so much content to fit into its sections… and that there’s still much to do.
Which leads me to mention that it’s already 8 February 2016! Today’s the first day of Lunar New Year. Hello. Best. Monday. Ever! We have no plans for the LNY holidays other than to clean up the house, cook our own food (EVERYTHING OUT THERE IS CLOSED), and maybe exercise a little.
We had a little LNY dinner last night with a friend visiting our house. We watched “The Queen of Versailles”– about this crazy rich family in the U.S. who became unfortunate victims of the 2008 financial crisis. Ouch. We needed to wash off the drama with a few episodes of Parks and Recreation. Continue reading
